For Our Good and His Glory Part 2

“Life is but a Weaving”

(the Tapestry Poem)

“My life is but a weaving Between my God and me.

I cannot choose the colors He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;

And I in foolish pride Forget He sees the upper And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent And the shuttles cease to fly

Will God unroll the canvas And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful In the weaver’s skillful hand

As the threads of gold and silver In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares; Nothing this truth can dim.

He gives the very best to those Who leave the choice to Him.”

For Our Good and His Glory (Part 2) By Alex Bowman:

God has been at work ever since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. Since then, God has been at work redeeming man and bringing him to a place of conviction, repentance and saving faith. The goal of all of His work here on earth is to bring His beloved children to Himself.

Our heavenly father is orchestrating all of the events in our individual lives whether bad or good so that it culminates to our salvation for His glory. Theologians call this the Providence of God. God is in control of all things! If we truly grasp this truth and believe in it, then it will lead us to freedom from things such as anxiety, stress, discouragement, depression, and despondency.

If God is in control of all things, then we can place our faith in God in all matters of life. One of the most powerful displays of God’s providence was on Calvary. What man meant for evil toward the Son of God, God used it for our good and His glory.

Instead of punishing us for our sin, God the Father punished His only Son. Instead of experiencing eternal separation from God, Jesus experienced that separation for us for the very first time in His eternal existence within the Trinity. Instead of being subjected to eternal death, Jesus defeated eternal death so we can have eternal life.

Therefore, the Gospel can transform lives that are wrought with fear to lives full of faith and assurance when the storms of life come crashing in. The Gospel destroys the fear of separation from loved ones, because it accomplishes God’s desire to bring His beloved children to Himself. The Gospel destroys the fear of death, because our God has overcome eternal death.

Now why this fear and unbelief? Take heart Christian, for our God is at work for our ultimate good and for His glory!!! It is only in Jesus that the next time we look up and see the next storm of life coming, we can calmly sing on in worship of Him.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
