I Will Be Voting For…

Ok, so welcome to my shameless moment of click bait! You didn’t really think I would blog who I will be voting for, did you? Truly, I believe I have something more important to offer you today. As Election Day draws near, I want to blog a few thoughts to root you not in red or blue, not in a Donkey or Elephant, but in some bedrock truths that will serve you no matter what happens this November. (By the way, what is up with the history of the donkey and the elephant? Couldn’t they have come up with something a little more compelling than the donkey and the elephant? I can think of a few other animals that exude a bit more strength and nobility! But, a donkey, an elephant…? Really…?)

Last month Trinity Community Church celebrated twenty-two years! Twenty-two years ago 35-40 people gathered in a hotel conference room to start a new church. We had no equipment (Well, we did have a coffee maker, and… I seem to remember a couple microphones.) Oh, we also had an abundance of idealism and ignorance.

If you are at all like me, sometimes you struggle with the plans of God.  Bottom line….  I struggle because I think I have a better plan.  Isn’t that what it all comes down to?

I think I have a better plan.

I am not getting what “I” want.

I think I would do a better job if “I” were sovereign.

YIKES!  

It is sad…. but, it is true.

So, you have been sick.  Your sickness has been going on for quite some time now.  You continue to “deal with it” hoping it all goes away.  Well, it hasn’t  and it has finally brought you to that point.  You break down and go see the Doctor.  You know it’s bad when YOU go to the doctor!  As a Christian, you take God at His Word and you believe God can heal you.  You ask others to join with you and pray.  And….. people do pray!
